Four bike rides to try this fall in Oneida County
Take in the stunning scenery of northern Wisconsin on two wheels. Here are four great bike routes to ride on your next fall getaway to Oneida County.
One of Oneida County’s most popular biking routes, the Bearskin State Trail starts in downtown Minocqua and travels for more than 20 miles to the city of Tomahawk in Lincoln County. The crushed-gravel surface and level trail make the pathway a fit for all ages and abilities, and the scenery is stunning in the fall as riders pass over 13 historic train trestle bridges along the way.
This trail is made up of level, packed-gravel roads that offer 8 miles of riding through McNaughton and Newbold and eventually into Rhinelander near State Highway 47.
This roughly 13-mile trail connects Three Lakes in northeastern Oneida County with Eagle River in southeastern Vilas County. The route consists of two sections of compacted crushed limestone with a brief, low-traffic paved road in between them. The trail crosses creeks, marshes, and other stunning landscapes that make it a must-visit in fall.
Located in the town of Cassian—west of Rhinelander and south of Hazelhurst—this 15-mile trail system passes the shores of three different lakes and offers a beautiful ride through Oneida County’s fall colors. Trailheads are located on Beaver Lake Road (north end) and County Highway K (south end).
