What we’re thankful for in Boulder Junction
There’s a lot to be thankful for in our cozy corner of the Northwoods. Here are a few things we’re giving thanks for—including some things you shouldn’t miss on your next trip to Boulder Junction.
Lakes, lakes and more lakes
Did you know that there are nearly 200 lakes within 10 miles of downtown Boulder Junction? That much water means almost endless opportunities for enjoyment, whether that’s fishing (there’s still time this year to track down those elusive muskies), strolling a lakeside trail (a good one to try is the Fallison Lake Trail, located in the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest) or simply taking in the sunset from your cozy cabin (see lodging options here).
Wonderful trails you can use all year long
Boulder Junction sits in the heart of the Northwoods, and there’s no lack of places to take a walk through the wilderness. A few of the most popular hiking trails in the area include the Star Lake Nature & Hiking Trail, the North Trout Lake Trail and the Powell Marsh. (Boulder Junction is also home to several fun bike trails, including a portion of the Heart of Vilas County Paved Bike Trail System.)
If winter sports are more your thing, the snow will fly soon and you can explore Boulder Junction’s cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails, or—if you’re looking for a little more speed—bring your snowmobile (or rent one here) and ride more than 100 miles of expertly groomed trails in and around Boulder Junction.
Remember to download the free Map It Vilas County trails app, which will help you find and navigate silent-sports trails, snowmobile trails and more throughout the Northwoods.
