What’s that sound? Discover these haunted Wisconsin hotspots
Some of Wisconsin’s charming fall destinations also have places that are rumored to be inhabited by a few spirits. Are the stories true? Travel to these spooky spots and see for yourself.
West Bend
Conduct your own paranormal investigation while learning about the fascinating history of this community with a trip to the Old Courthouse Museum and the Old Sheriff’s Residence and Jail. Both historic brick buildings are purportedly haunted by criminals of days gone by.
Vilas County
Some of Vilas County’s beautiful and historic places have been reportedly visited by ghosts. We can’t guarantee that you’ll see one at Little Bohemia in Manitowish Waters, the site of a famous gangster shootout, or at the beautiful Gateway Lodge in Land O’ Lakes, but spirits have supposedly been spotted in both spots. In any case, they are filled with classic Northwoods beauty, and you’re sure to have a great time. In Boulder Junction, you’ll find a different kind of ghost roaming the forest: the “ghost deer” are not apparitions but rare albino deer that call this area of the Northwoods home.
Middleton
Ghosts of a different sort haunt Middleton every October! At the Haunted Hustle, racers of all ages and abilities can don their favorite costume and hit a scenic Middleton course. The best costumes win prizes, and the weekend includes a marathon, half-marathon, 10K and 5K events. There are also games and activities for kids. Grab your ghost or goblin costume and do the hustle!
