Paddling Trips In and Around Boulder Junction: Part 2

All trips take approximately 2-3 hours and have one put in/take out.

Papoose Lake: Papoose Lake is a 422 acre lake located in Vilas County. It has a maximum depth of 65 feet. The lake’s water clarity is very clear. From Boulder Junction take Hwy K west to Papoose Lake Rd, turn right and follow to Papoose Landing Road. Turn right and follow signs to landing.

Plum Lake: Plum Lake is a 1057 acre lake located in Vilas County. It has a maximum depth of 57 feet. The lake’s water is moderately clear. From Boulder Junction take Hwy M South to Hwy N. Turn left on Hwy N and follow to Razorback Road, turn left and follow to State House Road, turn right and follow signs to landing. Also accessible from  Plum Lake Campground on Hwy N.

Round Lake & Big Lake: Round Lake is a 173 acre lake located in Vilas County. It has a maximum depth of 25 feet. Big Lake is a 827 acre lake located in Vilas County. It has a maximum depth of 61 feet. The lake’s water is moderately clear. For access to Round Lake take Hwy K west out of downtown Boulder Junction. Turn right on Bear Lake Road. Follow to Round Lake Road, turn right and follow to the boat landing. For access to Big Lake take Hwy K West out of downtown Boulder Junction look for signs on the right for Big Lake boat landing or follow Hwy K to Hwy P, right on Hwy P to Big Lake Campground on your right.

Star Lake: Star Lake is a 1219 acre lake located in Vilas County. It has a maximum depth of 68 feet.  The lake’s water is moderately clear. From Boulder Junction travel hwy M south to Hwy K. Turn left on Hwy K and follow into Star Lake. Turn right on State House Road and follow signs to West Star Lake Campground or  continue on Hwy K to Hwy N. Turn right on Hwy N and follow to East Star Lake Campground on your right.

Trout Lake: (2 hours each North Trout/South Trout) Do 1 or both from the same landing. Trout Lake is a 3864 acre lake located in Vilas County. It has a maximum depth of 117 feet.  From Boulder Junction travel south on Hwy M. There is access at Ben Bendrick (Lake Shore) Drive,  North Campground, or South Campground.

White Sand Lake: White Sand Lake is a 746 acre lake located in Vilas County. It has a maximum depth of 71 feet. The lake’s water clarity is very clear. From Boulder Junction take Hwy M south to Hwy K. Turn left on Hwy K and follow signs to landing on the left.

Wildcat Lake: Wildcat Lake is a 293 acre lake located in Vilas County. It has a maximum depth of 38 feet. The lake’s water is moderately clear. From Boulder Junction take Hwy M north to Wildcat Landing Road, turn left to boat landing.
